City National has announced that it has provided Three Square Food Bank with a $5,000 donation for this year’s Bag Childhood Hunger Program. The funds from City National’s donation will be matched by the Bennett Family Foundation, which will provide funding for 40,000 meals to families and children in Southern Nevada who are food insecure and hungry. Three Square’s mission is to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community. They combine food banking (warehousing canned and boxed goods), food rescue (obtaining surplus or unused meats, bread, dairy and produce from hospitality and grocery outlets), and ready-to- eat meals to be the most complete food solution for Southern Nevada.
MGM Resorts International and Bank of America came together to build a Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas home on Toshiba Plaza in celebration of T-Mobile Arena’s first anniversary. More than 150 volunteers from Bank of America and MGM Resorts were working all day to construct the framework of a Habitat Las Vegas townhome. Following the build, partner executives, including Bill Hornbuckle and Phyllis A. James of MGM Resorts International, expressed their gratitude to the community for making the arena’s first year a success. Remarks were given by Dan Giraldo from Bank of America, as well as Mike Borden and Douglas Coombs from Habitat Las Vegas who thanked MGM Resorts International and T-Mobile Arena for their support and commitment to the community. The completed townhome framework will remain on Toshiba Plaza throughout the weekend before it is transported to Henderson, where Habitat Las Vegas already has completed 29 homes.
