C-SUITE: Bob Cunningham, SR Construction

Q: WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

A: “Understanding Trump” by Newt Gingrich. Politics seems to be an ever-polarizing subject so reading and learning as much as I can in regard to many things, is my way of coming to a deeper understanding of people, events and things.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT?

A: Being new to the area, my wife and I are trying out different restaurants. So far, we really enjoy the Bacon Bar, Bobby Flay’s Burgers and Sasha Sushi.

Q: WHERE DO YOU TAKE CLIENTS TO DINNER?

A: really don’t have a “go-to” place at this time.

Q: WHERE DO YOU WORK OUT OR PLAY YOUR FAVORITE SPORT?

A: My wife and I are avid walkers. We try to walk three to five miles every day. My favorite sport to compete in is golf, but watching is a different thing. With a son coaching college football, a daughter working for a MLB team and watching NHL I keep pretty busy filling my time viewing sports.

Q: HOW DO YOU DECOMPRESS AFTER A HARD WEEK?

A: Having an agronomy degree, I have always loved working outdoors. I miss the grass, trees, plants, etc. from the Midwest, but am learning a lot about desert life. Most of my decompressing is done working on something to fix up in the garage.

Q: WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FACING LAS VEGAS IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?

A: A challenge in my industry is a qualified workforce and people wanting to work. We have a huge workforce deficit. Tradesmen jobs are the life blood of the construction industry and you can make a pretty good living doing this. I wish more young adults would consider this option as a future.

Q: WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT LAS VEGAS?

A: My wife and I just moved to Las Vegas in May. Our initial reactions have been very positive. The people have been very friendly and helpful. Of course, the weather has been outstanding. People told us this was one of the hottest summers on record. You want hot, go to St. Louis in the middle of August where it’s 95 degrees and 90 percent humidity.
