C-SUITE: Gary Costa, executive director, Golden Rainbow

Q: What are you reading?

A: “Leaders Eat Last” by Simon Sinek. It’s a great read for anyone leading a team of individuals.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant?

A: I have so many favorites! Mingo Kitchen and Lounge is like my own “Cheers:” “Because sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came.” For a classy night out I enjoy Cleo at the SLS. For Sunday brunch I must say it’s Yard Bird at The Venetian for chicken and waffles.

Q: How do you decompress after a long week?

A: I usually try to get away for the weekend to my place in Palm Springs, but if I can’t get away I will stay home with my partner, Stephen, and our dog, Alton.

Q: What is the biggest challenge facing Southern Nevada?

A: The lack of affordable housing for those living at or below the poverty line. As downtown has become gentrified and old hotel and motels turned into condos and boutique hotels it’s becoming difficult for those who rely on disability or social security to find affordable housing. As a result, the homeless problem is getting worse here.
