GrowBLOX receives funding for Las Vegas marijuana lab

GrowBLOX Sciences Inc., a biopharmaceutical company specializing in plant biology and cultivation to produce medicinal cannabis, received a $1.75 million funding commitment to complete construction and setup operations at its MME Cultivation Facility in Las Vegas.

Pacific Leaf Ventures LP provided both the capital infusion and a license for its intellectual property, including brand-name cannabis and proprietary know-how for cultivation and cannabis extractions.

“This funding represents the final step in a series of prerequisites for the commencement of operations at our cannabis cultivation facility in Las Vegas,” CEO Craig Ellins said in a statement.

Ellins said he hopes to have the MME Cultivation Facility up and running by year’s end.

“Our suite of technologies for tissue culture propagation of our proprietary strains, growing a safe and consistent MME product, and efficiently extracting the cannabis oils will all soon be on display at our state-of-the art facility,” he said in a statement. “We believe that our cultivation labs will provide a pristine and consistent environment for growing and processing medical cannabis that will safeguard our proprietary technology and equipment, as well as our products.”

He added, “We also feel that our cultivation labs will ensure the security and integrity of the licenses from Pacific Leaf for its brand name cannabis strains and products that will be recognized by patients with reciprocal MME cards in adjacent states like California and Arizona.”

Renovation complete

Burke Construction Group completed Bed, Bath &Beyond’s Harmon distribution facility at 5402 E. El Campo Grande Ave. in North Las Vegas earlier this month.

The project included the modernization and enhancement of an existing 180,000-square-foot distribution warehouse developed by Thomas &Mack Development Group. The $5.2 project included the construction of approximately 120,000 square feet of main office and full build-out of the shipping and receiving departments.

It also entailed the demolition and construction of new dock levelers and equipment and the installation of all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

The expansion was designed by CASCO and managed by Burke Construction Group Project Manager Patrick Schueppert.

Bed Bath &Beyond has the facility running at full capacity.

State halts collections

The Nevada Financial Institutions Division issued an order to cease and desist unlicensed activity to Collect Pros LLC.

The company is filed as a domestic limited-liability company with the Nevada Secretary of State, but has not applied to the division to obtain the required license to act as a collection agency in Nevada.

The Carson City address used by the company is a resident agent address and the company is not physically operating within the state of Nevada.

An investigation into the company was conducted after the division received a number of complaints from consumers.

The investigation found that the company had engaged in the business of a collection agency by soliciting one or more Nevada residents as well as consumers outside of Nevada via a collection letter demanding payment.

The division issued the May 28 order that requires Collect Pros LLC to refrain from operating and engaging in the business of serving as a third party collection agent and soliciting the right to collect or receive payment on behalf of a third party.

Collect Pros LLC has 30 days to comply with the order and request a hearing on the matter. The company is subject to an administrative fine of $10,000 should they fail to comply with the order.

A copy of the full order is online at www.fid.state.nv.gov/New_EnforcementActions.htm.
