Las Vegas public relations firm rebrands

Sarah Thornton Public Relations, a public relations and social media management firm based in Las Vegas, has rebranded under a new name, Connected Communications. The firm has also named Whitney Ogden public relations specialist.

Connected Communications is a locally grown firm with services including media relations, strategic planning, marketing, special events, business development, community relations and social media management. Sarah Thornton started the business in Las Vegas in 2007 and currently represents clients in industries including professional services, real estate, law, engineering and finance. The firm also offers public relations services to local nonprofits: Hearts Alive Village Las Vegas, High Rollers Adaptive Sports Foundation and Family to Family Connection.

Thornton has been working in public relations since 1994 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Thornton was awarded Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America, a distinction held by only 15 percent of public relations professionals within the society’s global membership. In 2011, she was named Public Relations Principal of the Year at the Electronic Media Awards. Most recently, Clark County Bar Association named her its 2018 Volunteer of the Year. Along with her extensive work in public relations, she is also active in the Las Vegas community, contributing to local charities and volunteering whenever possible. She volunteers with Cure 4 the Kids Foundation and was recently elected to Family to Family Connection as a board member.

Ogden brings a wide range of experience to Connected Communications as the firm’s public relations specialist. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication from Arizona State University in 2015. Ogden worked as a sports reporter and copy editor at The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington, covering sports teams that included Gonzaga University basketball, Eastern Washington University football and the Spokane Indians Minor League Baseball team. She also briefly worked as a news and sports producer for Spokane’s local television station, KREM 2 News. Ogden offers an array of experience in digital and print content development, social media management, photography, videography and editing.
