MGM National Harbor hires Las Vegas company to launch venues

MGM National Harbor, the newest addition to the Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International portfolio, has called upon Clique Hospitality, also of Las Vegas, to develop two entertainment venues, Felt Bar &Lounge and Blossom Cocktail Lounge, for its Maryland property.

Clique, a boutique hospitality company led by Andy Masi, has venues at Red Rock Casino, including Hearthstone Kitchen &Cellar and Libre Mexican Cantina, as well as Clique Bar &Lounge at the Cosmopolitan, among others.

The company will oversee the design and cocktail programs at the two lounges, which are on the banks of the Potomac.

“Andy and the team at Clique are true innovators in the field and will help us define and execute what will become a key component of our resort experience,” Bill Boasberg, general manager of MGM National Harbor, said in a statement. “We believe Felt and Blossom will very quickly become the destinations to see and be seen in the Capital Region for visitors and locals alike.”

At MGM National Harbor, Masi and the Clique team partnered with KNA Design to conceive Felt Bar &Lounge, a cocktail spot with an outdoor terrace featuring striking views of the nation’s capital, as well as Blossom Bar &Lounge at the heart of the casino floor.

“We’re looking forward to bringing these two new concepts to life as our first ventures on the East Coast,” Masi said in a statement. “Having a home base in Las Vegas has allowed us to explore and develop many new concepts and ideas. We’re incorporating the best of what we’ve learned into these new venues at MGM National Harbor and can’t wait to get to know the local audience.”

Felt Bar &Lounge will feature three different interiors as well as an outdoor terrace with a stone fire pit with nautical-inspired chairs and couches.

Classic cocktails will be served in addition to specialty cocktails featuring fresh juices and colorful garnishes. Felt also will offer table-side mixology for the first time in the region.

MGM National Harbor’s 24-hour Blossom Cocktail Lounge will offer modern cocktails, micro- and macro-brewed beers and shooters.

It will also have a wood-plank ceiling intermixed with custom-made branchlike light fixtures each supporting transparent globes emulating petals and flowers. The lounge’s focal wall will be outfitted with art panels featuring photos of local cherry blossoms.

The $1.3 billion resort spans 24 stories and boasts 308-rooms with more than 125,000 square feet of space that includes slots, table games and poker, spa, salon, entertainment theater, retail, meeting space and restaurants from renowned local, national and international chefs.

MGM National Harbor is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2016.
