Solar issue beyond Sandoval

TO THE EDITOR:

I typically don’t let myself get too involved in these issues but have a major concern that the two (2) states with the most sunshine — Nevada and Arizona — have been denied solar by the power companies. In my opinion, it really comes down to the fact that the boards, shareholders, etc., are going to lose personal money. That said, just how much does Warren Buffet need anyhow? I think it is truly over the head of Governor Sandoval so don’t come on down — go away!

For real solar to work in a competitive arena, the federal government may have to step in. Yes, there are big dollars spent on the power infrastructure but it is outdated and old hat.

I realize this is a very simplistic look at a true mess but it has to get fixed. My wife and I seriously looked at installing solar and the two companies touting their product left us highly discouraged, as they were both textbook and within pennies of each other in the bid. Only one actually came to our house and did measurements; the other looked at a google map of our home. At present it does not make sense to install as it would never pay itself back in my lifetime.
