Shea becomes president of American Bankruptcy Institute
James Patrick Shea has begun his term as president of the American Bankruptcy Institute. His one-year term began during the group’s spring meeting April 16–19. Shea, an institute member since 1988, has more than 30 years of experience advising financial institutions and other creditors in business bankruptcy proceedings. Shea is also a partner in Armstrong Teasdale’s Financial and Real Estate Services practice group. He has served as the institute’s vice president of communications and information technology, and is founding chairman of the institute’s former subcommittee on gaming insolvencies and reorganizations. Shea is the founding chairman and current vice chairman of the State Bar of Nevada’s Bankruptcy Law Section, serves as co-chairman of the 9th Circuit Lawyer Representatives for the District of Nevada. He was recently elected to the 9th Circuit Judicial Conference Executive Committee.
Pennell to lead veterinary group
Jon Pennell has been named president of the Western Veterinary Conference.
Dr. Pennell, who has served on the conference’s board of directors since 2009, assumes the title of president from his previous position of president-elect.
He is a veterinary graduate of Washington State University and has practiced small-animal veterinary medicine for more than 30 years. On the 2015-2015 conference board of directors, Debbie White of Nevada is a new addition, joining Dr. Pennell and 11 other directors.
