Caesars, MGM Resorts

cited by Points of Lights

Points of Light, an organization dedicated to volunteer service, named Caesars Entertainment Corp. and MGM Resorts International as two of America’s most community-minded companies.

The companies were recognized through the Civic 50, an annual survey used to identify and recognize companies for their commitment to improving life in the communities where they do business. Civic 50 applicants were evaluated based on several criteria, including the quantity and impact of financial and human resources applied to civic improvement; whether internal and external resources are activated to maximize community impact; how a company’s community engagement activities support its business interests; how broadly community engagement is supported and institutionalized within a company’s policies; systems and incentives; and how a company measures the social and business value of its community engagement programs.

Caesars’ integrated, companywide citizenship strategy includes its HERO employee engagement initiative through which employees volunteer more than 200,000 hours each year; CodeGreen environmental program, focusing on the dramatic reduction of waste, water and carbon emissions; Responsible Meeting program that allows customers to host eco-friendly events with sustainable options; commitment to diversity, as 41 percent of property and corporate managers are women and 36 percent of property and corporate managers are minorities; investment in community, with Caesars Foundation donating more than $70 million to nonprofit organizations.

For MGM Resorts International, financial donations and volunteer service to the community is not only a moral obligation the company shares with its employees, but also a vital part of its business imperatives, the company said.

The winners were announced at the Points of Light conference in Detroit.
