ON THE MOVE: Access to Healthcare Network names CEO

Trevor Rice

HEALTH CARE

• The board of directors of Access to Healthcare Network has named Trevor Rice as its new chief executive officer. Rice has been with Access since 2009, most recently serving as chief operating officer since 2015.

“Trevor was the ideal choice for this position when the prior CEO retired earlier this year,” said Don Kowitz, chairperson of the board. “His vast experience with Access in all facets of the organization, plus his passion for the people we serve, will serve Access incredibly well.”

Rice has a master’s degree in health administration from Pennsylvania State University, as well as a BA in sociology from University of Washington. He is also a certified trainer in the nationally recognized Bridges out of Poverty program and a master trainer in Stanford’s Chronic Disease Self-Management program.

Rice’s honors include the Emerging Professionals Award from Pennsylvania State and the Young Professionals Network “20 under 40” award.

Access to Healthcare Network (AHN) improves the health and well-being of individuals in the community by providing and expanding access to services that address the clinical and social determinants of health. In addition to providing direct service to over 200,000 uninsured, underinsured, low-income and otherwise vulnerable Nevada residents since its inception in 2006, AHN also acts as an intermediary organization, through its model of community Shared Responsibility, to support, strengthen, and integrate the health care and social service delivery system and stakeholders.

NONPROFIT

• Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada (JASN) welcomed Joan Blair as the newest addition to its board of directors. Leveraging extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, financial planning, grant compliance and fundraising strategies, she provides expertise that will complement the work of the financial literacy nonprofit’s dedicated board.

As controller at the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), Blair oversees financial and investment strategies, ensuring operational efficiency within budgetary constraints and sustainable funding for future growth of the public-private partnership that helps to diversify and strengthen the area’s economy. She also plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing financial plans, including those related to grant programs — a crucial aspect of her compliance-focused role, and in crafting fundraising strategies.

“Joan’s dedication to mission-aligned values and her financial planning expertise will significantly impact our efforts to empower more students about financial literacy, workforce development and entrepreneurship,” said Michelle Jackson, chief executive officer and president of Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. “This is particularly timely with the development of our new Junior Achievement Inspiration Center, which will allow us to triple our reach to local students when it opens in the spring.”

Blair’s JASN commitment extends beyond board duties, as she’s an active volunteer in its Career Speaker Series and the It’s My Job and JA in a Day programs.

Originally from Boston, Blair started her career in high school as a bookkeeper for small retail companies. Motivated by her passion for enhancing accounting processes, she decided to move to Las Vegas to pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While studying, Blair joined the LVGEA team as an accounting and operations intern. After graduating, she returned to the organization, ultimately attaining her current role as controller.

Blair is a dedicated volunteer who passionately supports causes that hold a special place in her heart. She volunteers with Serving Our Kids, an organization committed to addressing the needs of homeless, at-risk, and food-insecure children in Clark County by providing weekly and weekend meal bags. She provides this nonprofit with strategic planning support and guidance. Additionally, she serves as treasurer for her son’s Parent Teacher Organization.

Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, Inc. was founded locally in 1996. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing financial education to K-12 students, with a curriculum that spans from budget management to economic principals, workforce skills and credit. Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada reaches more than 20,000 students annually in the Las Vegas area with the help of 285 businesses and 6,800 business role models. Upon completion, the new Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada Inspiration Center will impact more than 60,000 local youth. It will be a permanent site for its two capstone programs: JA BizTown and JA Finance Park.
