ON THE MOVE: Geotechnical Environmental Services announces promotion

Daniel Miller

ENGINEERING

• Geotechnical & Environmental Services President Greg DeSart announced the promotion of Daniel Miller to materials technician supervisor.

“Daniel has proven himself to be a leader among our field staff,” DeSart said. “His promotion is a testimony of our efforts to develop leaders from within as we strive to be a best firm to work for.”

Miller has more than two decades of experience in construction materials testing and inspections. His multiple certifications in the field has helped him become a valuable addition to the company, leading to this promotion.

GES is a full-service, Southern Nevada engineering firm focusing on geotechnical, environmental, materials testing and construction inspections. In addition, the company offers drilling support for the design, construction and maintenance of public infrastructure and private development.

MANUFACTURING

• As part of Sunshine Minting, Inc.’s ongoing strategic growth plan, it announced the following significant changes to its organization.

— Jason Trubey has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Sunshine Minting, Inc. In his new role, he will assume the oversight of all of SMI’s operations from a day-to-day perspective, monitoring and analyzing the overall business performance to meet the strategic goals of the company, and the implementation of the vision and strategy of the CEO and board of directors. Trubey will be directly responsible for leading the directors and managers of the company and their performance.

— Annie Yang will assume the role of vice president and chief commercial officer. As the CCO, she will be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of SMI’s commercial and sales strategies globally, setting annual sales targets and monitoring progress, managing key commercial contract, and identifying and developing new business opportunities and products. Yang will continue in her role as general manager of SMI(SH), SMI’s operation located in Shanghai, China.

Dan Simpson has been promoted to director of operations. He will be responsible for the Nevada and Idaho operations while providing support and guidance to Annex Plating and Liberty Refining to ensure operational continuity. In the newly expanded role, Simpson will be leading the production teams in all operations by utilizing SMI’s capabilities and driving operational growth to meet customers’ needs and the company’s growth strategy.

Recently, SMI added Jesper Olsen as Senior Director of Finance and Accounting. In this new role, Jesper will be responsible for the Accounting, Purchasing, and Material Controls Departments at SMI.

— Tom Power will continue in his role as chief executive officer and chairman of the board. These changes will allow him to continue to focus on determining the company’s future goals and strategies and continue the development of SMI.

MINING

• The Nevada Mining Association announced the return of Drew McGregor to the organization as its communications manager. In this position, McGregor will oversee the organization’s communication strategy, relationships with media, community organizations and educational institutions. McGregor will interface will all NVMA departments to develop strategies to align and highlight the organization’s mission to engage new audiences, support industry recruitment and highlight mining’s role in today’s world.

McGregor previously served as NVMA’s outreach manager for more than seven years, managing many of the organization’s external communications channels including social media, newsletters and website, along with overseeing public relations efforts. For the past two and a half years, McGregor was marketing content lead for the Hamilton Co., managing social media pages, launching and managing a successful webinar program and assisting with the company website and graphic design. Prior to his initial stint with NVMA, McGregor was a program manager for Best Buddies Nevada and served as the lead field organizer for the Nevada State Democratic Party.

McGregor earned a Bachelor of Arts, history and Bachelor of Arts, political science from Dickinson State University in North Dakota.

REAL ESTATE

• Burke Construction Group announced the promotion of Cameron Dean and Ryan Plutchak to directors of construction. Cameron and Ryan will continue to drive innovation and growth within the operations department while further strengthening partnerships with clients and trade partners.

— Plutchak brings over 15 years of construction expertise and previously served as a senior project manager at Burke. He has played a key role in the successful delivery of high-profile projects such as UnCommons and Ilumina on Raiders Way. In addition to his professional achievements, he is an active member of the construction community, serving with organizations like the Nevada Contractors Association and the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks. His dedication to fostering industry growth and building strong partnerships has made him a trusted leader at Burke.

— Dean, with over 20 years of industry experience, has been an integral part of Burke, contributing significantly to the company’s success. During his tenure at Burke as a senior project manager, he contributed to the successful delivery of impactful projects, including the Glenn and Ande School of Education at Nevada State University and the T-Mobile for Business Customer Experience Center.
