Option 1 Healthcare Solutions sold to Dallas firm

Epic Health, a Dallas-based provider of pediatric skilled nursing and therapy, has acquired Option 1 Healthcare Solutions, an enteral nutrition provider with an office in Las Vegas.

The acquisition marks a new service line for Epic, which provides private duty nursing and therapy for children, many of whom require feeding tubes. Epic can now provide this life-sustaining nutritional therapy, including supplies and formula, to these patients.

“Our goal was to unite with another leading pediatric provider that serves medically fragile children so we could better serve our patients and coordinate their care even more effectively,” said Epic President and CEO Chris Roussos. “As we seek to be the home health care provider of choice in this country, joining forces with Option 1 strengthens our ability to provide comprehensive, full-service and convenient care to patients and families. Epic is the only pediatric care provider dedicated to providing this full continuum of care.”

Option 1 serves more than 6,300 patients across six western states. Combined, the two companies will serve approximately 26,000 patients.

“The acquisition will be an accelerant for both companies’ growth trajectories,” said Option 1 CEO Rick Winterich. “It will introduce both Option 1 and Epic to new markets and allow us to deliver our services to an increased number of children who need care.”

Option 1 Healthcare Solutions will be a subsidiary of Epic, and will maintain its headquarters in Chandler, Ariz. Option 1’s management team will also remain in place.

Molasky opens Georgia building

The Molasky Group, which has offices in Atlanta and Las Vegas, opened an office building for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, the state’s largest health solutions company, this month in Columbus.

The 235,000 square foot facility in Muscogee Technology Park will house approximately 1,500 employees and will be Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia’s main hub for servicing its nearly 3 million members with healthcare plans, including medical, dental, life and specialty programs.

“This new building sends a strong message that BCBSGa wants to best serve its customers, employees and community,” Matt Connolly, vice president of Development for The Molasky Group, said in a statement. “They’ve created a quality environment with a workplace that supports its mission as the largest and longest-standing health insurer in the state. And as a major reinvestment in the Columbus community, it demonstrates a cooperative business climate conducive to economic growth and business development.”

Partners in the project were the Columbus Consolidated Government, the Development Authority of Columbus, Georgia, and the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

The three-story facility will replace an existing facility that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia has owned since 1958 and a smaller leased facility in the Muscogee Technology Park. It brings together the largest collection of company employees of any single location in Georgia. The building features an outdoor patio, a fitness center and walking path.

The Molasky Group’s other projects include a 110,000 office and warehouse facility in Las Vegas for pharmacy benefits manager, Catamaran Rx/Briova Rx, as well as outpatient clinics for United States Department of Veteran Affairs in Birmingham, Ala. and Eugene, Ore.; FBI Field Offices in Boston, Mass. and Milwaukee, Wis.; and residential projects in Glendale, Calif., and Portland, Ore.

Cox funds artists competition

The Las Vegas Philharmonic announced that Cox Communications of Las Vegas will sponsor the annual Cox Communications Young Artists’ Concerto Competition and has committed to funding the program for five years at an investment of $65,000.

Cox will also award prize money of $2,000 to the winner and $1,000 to the runner-up to be used toward their music education. The 2015 competition will take place on Oct. 3 at the College of Southern Nevada, Cheyenne Campus.

Each Fall, the Las Vegas Philharmonic presents a competition for young Nevada musicians through their senior year in high school. Winners of the competition perform as soloists at the annual Youth Concert Series, providing many with their first opportunity to play with a professional symphony orchestra. The 2015-16 Youth Concert Series is scheduled for Nov. 19- 20, and Jan. 6 – 8.

The Cox Communications Young Artists’ Concerto Competition has been a key component of the orchestra’s education and community outreach since 1999, with their free annual Youth Concert Series reaching 180,000 school children to date.

“Education, children and families are part of our philanthropic cornerstones at Cox Las Vegas and for this reason we’re very excited about this five-year sponsorship of the Young Artists’ Concerto Competition,” Mike Bolognini, vice president & market leader at Cox Las Vegas, said in a statement. “Music has an important function in our lives and supporting talented young artists in their endeavor to perform with the Philharmonic ensures this musical tradition will be kept alive.”

Cox’s support of The Las Vegas Philharmonic is part of the Company’s longstanding support of the arts — in particular, youth art education — and is part of the Cox Hearts for Arts program.
