Owner Shawn Williams founded WEBDOMAIN.VEGAS for the sale, specialization and needs of dot Vegas domain names. His company owns hundreds of domain names with the dot Vegas extension for well-known brand names as well as call-to-action (such as buygold.vegas).
Q: Why is WEBDOMAIN.VEGAS important to the community?
A: I live in Las Vegas, the Entertainment and Wedding Capital of the World, and I realized the dot Vegas extension is needed. I am Vegas Strong, Vegas Pride and Vegas Proud, and that’s why we offer the dot Vegas extension.
If everybody’s making money in our community, it improves our economy and makes everyone feel better. I want people to understand that when you believe in something, not just the American dream, but the Las Vegas dream, and you believe in Las Vegas enough to have a dot Vegas domain name with your branding, whether it is a call-to-action like Know Your Rights dot Vegas, or if it’s a brand name dot Vegas, people doing business here are going to need a dot Vegas domain name.
When the Marriage License Bureau of Clark County acquired weddings.vegas from WEBDOMAIN.VEGAS, I knew that this was a profitable business that would also give back to the community as well as bring more awareness to Las Vegas.
Q: What inspired you to develop WEBDOMAIN.VEGAS?
A: In 2000, I was invited to the home of Dr. Lonnie Hammargren for his Nevada Day celebrations on Oct. 31. As an entertainer, I would sing karaoke songs as Elvis Presley, Sammy Davis Jr., Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow and Michael Jackson.
I also met Oscar and Carolyn Goodman at his parties, along with Sen. Harry Reid and other important people. They would talk about the dot Vegas extension, and it intrigued me. I also met Jim Trevino, who, with his son, Dusty Trevino, who created and developed the dot Vegas extension.
Q: What is the history of WEBDOMAIN.VEGAS?
A: After speaking with all of these people, I took the opportunity, through GoDaddy, to purchase Goodwill.Vegas for $120. That was my first dot Vegas domain. Goodwill Industries contacted me about buying the domain name since they were about to open eight Nevada locations at the time. I invested $440 for three years and sold the domain name with the dot Vegas extension for $40,000 to Goodwill. That was a great return on my ROI.
I took that $40,000 and invested in buying more domains, so my portfolio is now over 330 dot Vegas domain names.
Q: You are based in Lake Las Vegas. What do you like about living and working in Lake Las Vegas?
A: I live close to The Village at Lake Las Vegas, which has excellent restaurants and other services. I have even invested in the village, opening the Perfect Paws, a dog grooming business, and a UPS store. I run into celebrities who have a home in Lake Las Vegas.
Q: Let’s talk about your Corvette.
A: I posed with my Corvette, an LT1 Prototype C8, the first one they created, and was on the showroom floor when they unveiled it at the Chevy Chevrolet Expo 2020. I purchased it from a finance officer for BMW with a sticker price of $91,000.
My wife and I also enjoy the Harley Davidson and other toys that we can afford due to the success of WEBDOMAIN.VEGAS.
Q: What are your future plans?
A: I am focused on WEBDOMAIN.VEGAS because I am open to selling this company since I have built up the revenue of assets with all these dot Vegas domain names. I was told it could be valued at $350 million. I could buy a casino and continue my entertainment career.
