The new board president of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association is bullish on 2022 coming off the best year for Las Vegas builders since 2006.
A recent Las Vegas Realtors report shows the new year did little to change the trajectory of the local housing market, as home prices reached another record high amid a historically tight supply.
This year kicked off with some high-priced and high-profile luxury homes listed on the Las Vegas market. Homes listed on the Las Vegas Realtor’s Multiple Listing Service ranging from $32.5 million to 16 million. The list is led by a $32.5 million home Carina Way in Seven Hills in Henderson that overlooks Rio Secco golf course. If sold near it’s listing price, it will set the all-time record in Las Vegas.
Smith’s Food Drug has opened a new $24 million Smith’s Marketplace store at Cadence Village Center at 845 E. Lake Mead Parkway in Henderson. This is the second marketplace store in Nevada and will add 230 new jobs to the area.

KB Home took the top honors in 2021 as the No. 1 new homebuilder in Southern Nevada as builders recorded their best year since 2006. KB, which held the top spot in 2020 as well, sold 2,158 homes in 2021, a 36 percent increase over the 1,586 sales in 2020, according to Las Vegas-based Home Builders Research.
Contour, a leading privately held real estate and development company based in Southern California, has announced it closed on 1.9 acres of land in Mountain’s Edge, a master-planned community in southwest Las Vegas. The site will be used for commercial development and is at 8575 Blue Diamond Road on the southeast intersection of South Durango Drive.
The uber Summerlin resort community the Summit Club — the home to Celine Dion, Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley and billionaires of industry — may be expanding beyond its 555 acres as the development seizes upon the strong demand that’s also permeated through the entire new-home luxury segments in Las Vegas.
