Kelsey Hand elected to S.A.F.E. House board of directors

Kelsey Hand, the executive director of media and client relations for Trosper Communications, was elected to the board of directors of S.A.F.E. House. She will serve a two-year term. S.A.F.E. House is an organization committed to stopping violence and abuse in the family environment by providing safe shelter, support, advocacy, counseling and education. As a board member, Hand will advance the organization’s goals in an effort to help provide quality crisis intervention, shelter and counseling services to domestic violence victims and their children in the community. She will specifically focus on public relations and media efforts, as well as special event promotion.

Women’s Chamber of Commerce to celebrate 12th annual leadership awards

Women’s Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 12th annual ATHENA International Leadership Awards on Dec. 4, starting with a VIP champagne reception at Club Madrid at Sunset Station. Fox 5 News anchor John Huck and Jessica Moore of KSNV-TV Channel 3 will be the masters of ceremonies. Women in Entertainment 2013 honoree Amie Jo Greer and a special celebrity guest will entertain. Proceeds will go to the group’s Legacy Foundation for scholarships for underprivileged high school students and postsecondary education plus grants. The Minority Lifetime Achievement award will be presented to Eloiza Martinez, retired executive at Wells Fargo Bank and president emeritus of the Las Vegas Latin Chamber; the ATHENA Organization Leadership award recipient goes to Dress for Success Southern Nevada; the 2015 ATHENA International Leadership finalist are Debbie Ann Banko, CEO of Link Technologies; Jacqueline Beato, senior vice president and treasurer for Caesars Entertainment:, Eileen Moore, regional president of the Flamingo, Linq and Cromwell resorts for Caesars Entertainment; Shannon Petersen, executive vice president, corporate banking manager for Nevada State Bank; and Inez Staten, director of license therapists, Problem Gambling Center. The 2015 ATHENA International Young Professional Leadership finalists are Jennifer C. Meals on Wheels America honored Caesars Foundation for support of seniors

Caesars Foundation was recognized by Meals on Wheels America for its support of older individuals. The reception was held in October at the National Restaurant Association headquarters in Washington. Janet Beronio, chairwoman of Caesars Foundation, accepted the award. Since 2002, Caesars Foundation has supported the annual March for Meals awareness campaign, contributing 56 vehicles to Meals on Wheels America members in 18 states. Nearly $25 million of the more than $70 million the foundation has contributed since its inception has benefited organizations addressing the needs of seniors.

Organization recognizes Nevada National Security Site as one of nation’s best vehicle fleets

National Security Technologies, the management and operating contractor for the Nevada National Security Site has been recognized for having one of the cleanest, most fuel-efficient vehicle fleets in the nation. Competing with more than 38,000 public fleets, the operation was rated fourth by the 2015 100 Best Fleets, Green Fleet Awards Organization, which tracks and rates the performance of vehicle fleets throughout the continent. The fleet has 960 vehicles, ranging from sedans to large trucks. More than 40 of them are alternative-fueled or plug-in electric vehicles.

Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association announces the 2105 Stars of the Industry Hospitality Awards

The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association hosted the fifth annual Stars of the Industry Hospitality Awards gala Oct. 14 at the Vdara. The event recognizes exceptional employees working within Nevada’s hotel industry. Approximately 250 leaders, industry employees, board members, executives, media and sponsors from throughout Nevada attended. Guest speakers Claudia Vecchio, director of Nevada Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, and Finley Cotrone, UNLV faculty, recognized the important contributions industry employees make to the state. Shannon McCallum Crawford, executive director of hotel operations at the Aria, was the recipient of the top honor award of Hotelier of the Year. Mary Giuliano, general manager of the Vdara, received the Outstanding General Manager of the Year award. Supplier of the Year was awarded to Brady Linen. The Aria received the Sustainability Leader award. Mary Ann Burns with the Boyd Group was the recipient of the Management Professional of the Year award. Megan Rodgers with The Venetian and Palazzo was awarded the Human Resources Employee of the Year. Sandra Blumberg with Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe won the Administrative Employee of the Year award. The Emerging Leader award recognized Dayna Chacon, assistant director of housekeeping at the Downtown Grand. Guest Services Employee of the Year was awarded to Valleau Lewis with The Orleans. Casino Employee of the Year went to Violeta Sotelo with The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Troy Teruya with Mandarin Oriental Hotel was the recipient of the Food and Beverage Employee of the Year award. Employee of the Year in the housekeeping category was awarded to Rosaura Palacio with The Venetian and Palazzo. Donna Marcou-Stafford with the Tropicana received the Sales Employee of the Year award. Lyra Hynie, Tropicana, was the recipient of the Revenue Management Employee of the Year. Lisel Westlake with the Aria received the Safety and Security Employee of the Year award. Outstanding volunteers Ronna Timpa, Nicole Marshall, Jim Kenney, Michelle Madrid and Ruth Furman received appreciation awards for their contributions.
