Past president Mizrachi CALV Member of Year

The Commercial Alliance Las Vegas named Hayim Mizrachi as its Member of the Year. The 10th annual CALV Symposium for commercial real estate professionals was held Sept. 11 at Gold Coast. Mizrachi received the award for his leadership, dedication and service to CALV. Mizrachi is president and a principal of the MDL Group commercial real estate firm. He was CALV’s president in 2014, and also served as president-elect and a director of CALV’s board of directors. A UNLV graduate, Mizrachi has worked as a broker and managed commercial real estate firms in Las Vegas for several years.

Seven hospitals honored for high-quality care

Seven Nevada hospitals were recognized Sept. 10 for high performance in quality-care measures and patient satisfaction. The 2015 HealthInsight Quality Award recipients are: MountainView Hospital and Southern Hills Hospital, both in Las Vegas; North Vista Hospital in North Las Vegas; Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite; Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks; Renown South Meadows Medical Center in Reno; and Sierra Surgery Hospital in Carson City. HealthInsight presented the awards at the Nevada Hospital Association annual meeting in Incline Village. Recipients are selected for demonstrating high-quality health care and excellence in performance. The hospital quality data is available online at hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.

Eight join WGU Nevada advisory board

Eight leaders from the business, education, policy, and healthcare sectors joined the Western Governors University advisory board, according to Dr. Spencer Stewart, chancellor of the nonprofit university. The new board members are: Dr. Dana Bennett, Nevada Mining Association president; Assemblywoman Teresa Benitez-Thompson, Nevada Legislature co-assistant minority floor leader; Denice Miller, MGM Resorts International senior vice president of government affairs; Sandy Colon Peltyn, DeSimone Consulting Engineers principal of marketing and community relations; Walt Rulffes, former Clark County School District superintendent; Michelle Sanchez-Bickley, Renown Health vice president of human resources; Todd Sklamberg, Sunrise Hospital CEO; and Judy Stokey, NV Energy vice president of government and community relations. The board provides counsel to the chancellor and addresses needs and trends to help shape the direction of the university in the state, while its members bring expertise in industries that are important to Nevada’s economy. The university offers accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees in four high-demand sectors: business, K-12 teacher education, information technology, and health professions, including nursing.
