Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host a presentation by Sheriff Joe Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on “How the More Cops Sales Tax Will Benefit Our Community” from 7 to 9 a.m. at Wildhorse Golf Club, 2100 W. Warm Springs Road. In August, the Henderson Chamber of Commerce Issues Committee and the HCC Board of Directors voted to support the More Cops Tax initiative, the proposal to increase the sales tax by 0.05 percent effective Jan. 1. The Henderson Chamber believes that this initiative will raise approximately $14 million in annual revenue for the LVMPD, allowing it to hire an additional 133 officers. The Henderson police chief and mayor support the proposal as it will allow the Henderson Police Department to hire an additional 15 officers. $25, members; $45, nonmembers.
