Q: What are you reading?
A: I have always been a voracious reader. I read about 90 to 100 books a year. Right now, I’m really enjoyingreading “Think Again” by Adam Grant. It addresses howwe “unlearn” ideas that no longer serve us and continue to challenge what we think we know. Growth requires flexibility and a willingness to ask tough questions — even when we do not always want to hear the answers.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant or place for business meetings?
A: I am a huge fan of Neighbors Café, for coffee and breakfast meetings. The space is bright and airy. The food is quick and delicious.
Q: How do you decompress after a long week?
A: I take my two dogs, Scout and Willow, on long walks or to the dog park. Their sheer enjoyment makes my heart happy. I also enjoy a good dog cuddle session with them as I read a book on the couch!
Q: Where do you work out or play your favorite sport?
A: I work out at Elevate Sports Performance and Healthcare. A couple of years ago, I had a traumatic foot injury. It was hard for me to imagine that I would play tennis, a sport I love, at the same level again without pain. They are the absolute best!
Q: What is the biggest challenge facing Southern Nevada?
A. Having access to quality health care is a top priority for our families who are navigating a cancer diagnoses. While we have come a long way, there is still much work to be done when it comes to the shortage of doctors, nurses and health care professionals in our community. This also extends to specialists, especially in pediatrics. The new School of Medicine is evidence of the strides we are making to address this challenge and I am hopeful that as a community we will continue to work on this for the benefit of all Nevadans.
Q. What are you most excited about right now?
A: Candlelighters is celebrating a big birthday this year. For us birthdays are always a reason to celebrate. We are looking forward to our biggest fundraising event of the year, the Superhero 5K on Sept. 16.
