Burdsall honored by SBA

The Nevada District office of the U.S. Small Business Administration has selected its small business award honorees for 2016.

Bradley Burdsall, owner of The Egg Works and Egg &I, has been named SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year for the State of Nevada. He’s been in the restaurant business for more than 25 years.

Burdsall purchased the Egg &I restaurant in Las Vegas in 1998 and then additional restaurants became Egg Works. He spent the next eight years developing his own recipes, menus and putting operating procedures in place. As a result, the business sales tripled.

In 2005, Burdsall opened a second location with the help of SBA financing. The restaurant industry took a beating during the recession, and Burdsall slowed his growth plans while weathering the storm. When the economy improved, he opened a third restaurant and the Egg Works chain now encompasses six locations.

Expansion also included a warehouse that houses the corporate headquarters and commercial kitchen that produces food, seasonings and sauces for the six restaurants.

Burdsall will compete with winners from all other states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands for the national award.

The national winner will be recognized as the 2016 National Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration this year in Washington, D.C. in May.

In Las Vegas, winners will be recognized at a luncheon on May 4 at 11:30 a.m. at the Gold Coast Hotel.
