Walker RV opens ‘Camping Lodge’ on same site

Johnnie Walker RV celebrated 52 years of business in Southern Nevada on April 8 with the opening of a new flagship “Camping Lodge,” where the company’s original building once stood.

Days before, employees of the Las Vegas-based company and its founder and namesake, John L. “Johnnie” Walker, witnessed the demolition of the original building, which he and his father assembled in 1963.

“With the demolition of our original sales building, the grand opening celebration with our friends and family, and the upcoming RV Extravaganza Sale, it has been a month of transformation and celebration for us,” Marketing Director Michael Walker said in a statement. “We are unbelievably proud of our history and honored by the support the Las Vegas community has given to us throughout the years.”

Johnnie Walker RV provides a full range of motor homes, travel trailers, toy haulers and 5th wheels as well as recreational vehicle parts and service departments. The company has more than 80 employees at its three Southern Nevada locations on Boulder Highway.

Tech firm opens office

The Applied Group, a St. Louis-based consultative, infrastructure technology company, is opening an office in Las Vegas.

The new office in the Las Vegas Bermuda Springs Business Center at 320 E. Warm Springs Road, will serve the hospitality and gaming industry in the western United States.

Director Mark Thomas said the new Las Vegas location is in response to a growing demand from major industry clients for local resources.

“We’ve worked in Las Vegas for many years and the time is here to have a permanent presence to serve the needs of the hospitality and gaming industry,” he said in a statement. “The evolution from serial to Ethernet-based networking protocols has created unprecedented demand, as our clients are driving hard to enable a more flexible and personalized guest experience.”

The Las Vegas office opened in April and specializes in core infrastructure technologies, including collaboration, data center, network and security.

In the hospitality and gaming industry, Thomas said a positive guest experience is tethered to an integrated technology platform.

“Guests appreciate the seamlessness that flows through every aspect of their visit, from check-in to ordering dinner to connecting to the Internet to having personalized in-time offers and promotions,” he said in a statement. “We design, customize, manage and support the technical architecture that makes it all possible.”
