Nevada State Bank’s annual survey of small businesses in Nevada has sparked copious conversation among small-business owners and those who do business with them.
This local research on business trends, entrepreneurs’ opinions and their economic outlook is the subject of a free webinar series, “2015 Small Business Outlook,” which will be offered online starting May 11.
The series features insights from Jeremy Aguero, principal analyst with Las Vegas-based Applied Analysis, which conducted the survey on behalf of Nevada State Bank. More than 400 small-business owners, operators and managers throughout the state were contacted.
The four-part webinar series includes:
● Outlook and concerns: The bank’s recent Small-Business Survey asked respondents about their profits in the past year and whether they planned to expand. The survey also asked about concerns such as health care costs, business taxes, government regulation, cash flow and attracting new business.
● The economy: Survey questions on the economy centered on Nevada’s business environment and local business owners’ expectations for the future.
This webinar will examine these results, with Aguero offering details from other markets and breaking down the numbers specific to certain industries.
● Employment: Business owners and decision makers were asked how many employees they had and whether they planned to increase or decrease that number in the next year. They also shared opinions on recruiting and concerns about hiring and retaining quality employees.
This webinar will discuss employment trends, along with the larger issue of an educated workforce and whether there is a gap between what employers need and what’s available for hire.
● Legislation: The Affordable Care Act, the margin tax plan defeated by Nevada voters in November, proposals to raise the minimum wage and tax abatements were hot topics among survey-taking small-business owners.
In this webinar, Aguero will discuss hot topics at the Nevada Legislature this session.
