Las Vegas Hospitality Association’s summer educational luncheon — titled “Tackling Sports: The Emerging Market and How it Benefits Las Vegas Hospitality”— will be held from noon – 1:30 p.m., with check-in at 11:30 a.m., in East Ballroom 7-8 of the Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Attendees will learn the overall impact of special events such as National Finals Rodeo, the Pac-12 Conference Tournament and the National Basketball Association Summer League and how businesses benefit; also how special events, festivals and the growing sports market are changing Las Vegas and the hospitality industry. A panel discussion will include Scott Voeller, senior vice president of partnership and event marketing, MGM Resorts International; Dale Eeles, vice president of development, Las Vegas Events; Jim Livengood, Hall of Fame athletic director at UNLV, Arizona, Washington State and Southern Illinois; and John Saccenti, executive director at ESPN Events – Las Vegas Bowl. Urban Chamber of Commerce will feature a presentation on “UNLV Medical School Builds Business,” with guest speaker Dr. Barbara Atkinson, the med school’s planning dean. The Clark County Medical Society’s 61st presidential installation dinner and awards ceremony will celebrate “The Joy of Practicing Medicine” and honor incoming president Dr. Andrew Eisen and the 2015-2016 Board of Trustees.
