• Ed Olliges, owner of Friendly Ford on Decatur Boulevard, has been awarded with Ford Motor Co.’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. Olliges’ journey with Ford began 70 years ago. In 1970, Olliges opened Friendly Ford, a dealership that has become ingrained in the Las Vegas community. For over 50 years, he has built a reputation for commitment to his employees, customers and the city itself. At the age of 91, Olliges still arrives at the dealership every day, inspiring his team with his dedication and leadership. His impact extends beyond Friendly Ford, earning the respect of Ford dealers across the nation. Olliges’ dedication and success have also inspired his family to follow in his footsteps. • CleanSpark, a Bitcoin mining company headquartered in Henderson, announced the promotion of Brian Carson to chief accounting officer. In his new role, he will continue to oversee accounting and SEC financial reporting and will implement new systems and procedures as necessary to match the growth of the company. He previously served as the company’s director of financial reporting. Carson has more than 30 years of extensive experience in corporate accounting and financial planning, including the role of certified public accountant for more than two decades. Prior to joining CleanSpark in October 2022, he worked as a director and financial controller for Sahara Las Vegas. Carson began his career as an audit manager with Deloitte where he served for seven years before entering the consumer industry, leading finance departments at resorts throughout Las Vegas and providing consultancy services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Westminster University.

• JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa has appointed Eric Lhuillier as executive chef, leading the launch of a new fall-inspired menu at its premier restaurant, Hawthorn Grill. As the new executive chef, Lhuillier will spearhead the overall management and daily operations of the Hawthorn Grill kitchen. Before joining Hawthorn Grill, Lhuillier was the executive chef at Peter Luger Steakhouse, and the executive chef at Wally’s Fine Wine and Gourmet at Resorts World in Las Vegas. Lhuillier has more than 34 years of experience in the culinary industry, including Michelin-starred restaurants and Relais & Châteaux in Paris, France. He completed an apprenticeship at La Cremaillère, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Orléans, France.

• Naylor & Braster, Attorneys at Law, is expanding its team with the addition of Law Clerk Kelly Scarborough. Scarborough attended the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and graduated in May with her Juris Doctor, concentrating in business and commercial law.

As a law clerk, Scarborough’s responsibilities at Naylor & Braster include legal research, drafting and assisting with litigation matters. Prior to starting her legal career, Scarborough earned her bachelor’s in accounting from The Ohio State University in 2019 and was a revenue accountant for ExxonMobil. She also spent a year volunteering with AmeriCorps in Texas, teaching volunteers natural disaster recovery efforts and how to rebuild houses.

• Kim Small, CEO of Signs of HOPE (Healing, Options, Prevention and Education), a nonprofit dedicated to offering hope, help and healing to those affected by sexual violence and exploitation, announced the appointment of Verna (Vee) Griffin-Tabor to the organization’s board of directors.
Griffin-Tabor recently relocated to Las Vegas from Southern California where she worked in the field of sexual assault, relationship violence and human trafficking for more than four decades, including serving as CEO of the Center for Community Solutions from 1998 to 2023. Her long-serving dedication to the prevention and intervention of sexual assault, human trafficking, relationship violence and elder abuse has been recognized with numerous awards, board appointments and well-earned recognition throughout her career.
“We feel very fortunate that Vee Griffin-Tabor took the time to seek out our organization and re-engage in the work she did for so many years in California to support our efforts here in Southern Nevada,” Small said. “She is an incredible force in this field, and we look forward to her counsel and leadership as we continue to our work serving survivors of sexual assault and exploitation.”
Prior to moving to Southern Nevada, Griffin-Tabor served on the board of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence and University of San Diego’s Advisory Board on nonprofit management. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award and the Andrea O’Donnell Award from the San Diego Domestic Violence Council and the Distinguished Citizen Award from the San Diego County Bar Association. Among her numerous awards and honors, in 2019 Griffin-Tabor was named Woman of the Year by San Diego Magazine and was honored as the Distinguished Non-Profit Leader by San Diego Daily Transcript.
Signs of HOPE was founded five decades ago in 1974 by Florence McClure and Sandra Petta as the Community Action Against Rape (CAAR) and operated as The Rape Crisis Center from 2004-2021. Today, the organization operates two 24/7 crisis hot lines, one for sexual assault and one for human trafficking, provides hospital response for sexual assault victims and through its Resources and Integration for Survivor Empowerment or RISE program, provides crisis response and long-term case management services to victims of all forms of human trafficking. In addition, Signs of HOPE offers counseling, support groups, advocacy and prevention and education programs offered free to the community.
