Coldwell Banker Premier Realty gave out its annual awards and Chairman and CEO Bob Hamrick gave the state of the company and addressed the real estate market during a breakfast at the Smith Center on Feb. 20.
The real estate company has given out awards going back to its founding in Las Vegas in 1983 and it continued when Bob Hamrick and his wife Molly, the president and chief operating officer, took over ownership in 1998.
About 200 people attended the event that recognizes the success, production and tenure from the previous year. Coldwell Banker Premier Realty has 260 agents and 45 support staff spread out among three campuses in Green Valley, Centennial Hills and West Sahara Avenue.
The most prestigious award given is named for Marilyn Squitieri, a retired Coldwell Banker sales associate who was a leader in the real estate community from 1983 to 1996. It’s given to a sales or support staff person who consistently demonstrates high standards of service, including community service, productivity and leadership.
This year’s recipient is Lavert Benefield who’s been with Coldwell Banker Premier Realty since 2010.
Bob Hamrick said Benefield has been a top producer with the firm and always available to do training classes, share thoughts with agents on how to be successful and gives back to the community, Hamrick said. He has had a long career as a dancer, and continues to provide an annual scholarship to worthy kids.
“He’s someone who can’t say no in teaching a class, lead a discussion, participate in a program or bare his soul for the sake of others to help them accomplish the success he has enjoyed,” Hamrick said. “He consistently creating new goals to which he ascribes to achieve to.”
Benefield served as a dance supervisor for Celine Dion’s Las Vegas show “A New Day” for five years. He also worked as a dance captain for Gloria Estefan’s Las Vegas show. The 49-year-old Benefield said he became a Realtor in 2008 after Dion’s show finished.
“I was a speculator like everyone else during that period buying up multiple houses. I felt like I could have done a great job as an agent,” Benefield said. “I stepped into it and wanted to provide more education and better guidance.”
Benefield said he’s surprised, overwhelmed and honored about winning the award.
“This award is about production but how much I’m giving as well,” Benefield said. “Other than production, it’s about what we give back to our community as well as our fellow agents.”
Benefield said he helps provide scholarships for the performing arts.
In his address, Hamrick said the state of the company is very strong. The company’s gross sales volume went from $800 million in 2017 to $935 million in 2018. The gross commission income rose from $26 million to $27 million. The gross income per closing rose from $8,371 to $9,702.
The average gross commission income per agent is the highest in the marketplace at $107,570, Hamrick said.
Hamrick said even though inventory is increasing in the marketplace, he’s optimistic because that leads to a flight to quality.
“When listing inventory increases, the public is more concerned who they select to get their home sold,” Hamrick said. “We believe that is positioning us to be the one selected because our brand is recognized and agents are full-time and the most productive in the marketplace.”
Coldwell Banker Premier Realty’s Corporate Services Department was named a Cartus Masters Cup semi-finalist for the second year in a row and is one of eight semi-finalists in the country. The Masters Cup will be awarded next month during the Cartus Broker Network International Conference in Las Vegas. CBPR’s Corporate Services Department has also earned a Cartus Platinum Award for the fifth consecutive year and is the only Platinum broker in Southern Nevada. This department has a combined 64 years of relocation experience and closed 820 units in 2018.
