Station Casinos looks to the future while continuing its business model for success as part of its roots in Southern Nevada. The company continues to offer a top-tier experience to its local guests, adding a new property under construction and attracting outstanding talent to join one of the Nevada Top Workplaces.
Station Casinos has been named a Top Workplace by their team members for the second year in a row. Their recently appointed president of Red Rock Resorts, Scott Kreeger, is no stranger to Station Casinos and has lofty goals for the Vegas-born company celebrating 46 years this year.
Focusing on its team members, Station Casinos strives to provide the best benefits for those who work and provide for their families. The company opened a medical center at Red Rock Casino Resort and Sunset Station during the height of the pandemic in December, 2020. Free health benefits also were offered to team members and their families for those earning less than $100,000 annually, with an estimated 90 percent of team members enjoying benefits.
“It is important for our team members to focus on the well-being of their families. We wanted to make it easy for them to make appointments to see the doctors on-site in the clinics. There has been great feedback that our team members are excited to have their primary care physicians and long-term health so accessible.”
Station Casinos offers two retirement plans that complement each other, allowing team members to plan for a secure future. The traditional 401(k) program provides team members the chance to contribute to the plan, as well as receive matching funds from the company. Station Casinos also created a unique company-funded retirement plan in conjunction with the 401(k). For those employed one year or longer, the company will add a select amount per hour worked to the plan. For those who’ve been with the company for 25 years and longer, the company will add $1 per hour worked.
“We want to provide the industry’s best benefits program to our family, who are our team members,” Kreeger said.
Station Casinos recently broke ground on Durango Casino and Resort, sharing the event with 300 of their team members. I is the newest property to be developed. It is slated to be open in late 2023. The groundbreaking ceremony included Red Rock Resorts, Inc. Chairman and CEO Frank J. Fertitta III, Vice Chairman Lorenzo J. Fertitta, COO of Red Rock Resorts Bob Finch and Kreeger. The pop-up preview showcased the resort’s new logo, renderings of the casino resort and inspirational hotel vignettes set across the construction site providing an innovative glimpse of what guests can expect. This newest property will offer more job opportunities and the chance to grow with Station Casinos.
“We are most excited about our newest project, Durango (Casino and Resort),” Kreeger said. “We have already started to ramp up our internal hiring strategy for internal advancement and professional growth opportunities for our loyal staff.
“Station Casinos offers the best growth story in the business, and this local growth is in the great state of Nevada, in what I consider is the most vibrant, dynamic city in the world,” Kreeger said. “Our growth is focused on what we have done for the past 45 years and doing it with the best team members in the business.”
When he returned in 2021, Kreeger first served in the role of senior vice president of development, where he was instrumental in continuing to provide the company’s team members with great benefits in a caring, thriving work environment.
“I returned because people follow great leaders, and Frank (Fertitta) and Lorenzo (Fertitta), especially operated our company with a true owner’s mentality,” Kreeger said. “This is deeply rooted in family values. What I love is that these values are passed down in our company, and it can be felt in how we operate the business on a daily basis. I am very excited to be a part of this again.”
Station Casinos has been a big part of the community for over 45 years, and Kreeger is proud of that heritage. The company supports several local organizations, including the Public Education Foundation, Opportunity Village, Three Square and Share Village.
After accepting his new position, Kreeger met with Finch, who has been part of the company for over 30 years, and they strategized on how to continue to grow the success of the company. Both executives have worked their way up through the company to become president and chief operating officer, respectively showing the value the company places in team member growth and success.
“We realized the most important aspect of our continuing achievement is to ensure that Station Casinos is the employer of choice in Southern Nevada. We will continue to build on our team culture and recruit the best new talent available,” Kreeger said.
Kreeger takes great pride as a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management. While he has worked in other cities and lived in another country for five years, he is thrilled to be back in Las Vegas.
In fact, the most remarkable aspects of Kreeger’s return to Station Casino was the reconnection with so many team members he worked with during his first tenure at the company.
“It was wonderful to walk through the properties that I had the pleasure of either operating or developing and seeing so many people I knew who have grown in their careers in the company with bigger families. This reflects on how our team members treat our guests,” he said.
Kreeger had previously worked for Station Casinos from 2000 to 2013 in several senior positions in operations, property management, marketing, technology and Native American gaming.
“I am truly honored to lead so many passionate, loyal and guest-focused professionals into the next chapter of Station Casinos,” Kreeger said.
As Station Casinos thrives, many exciting plans are in the works, and it is always looking for new talent who want to be part of this Nevada Top Workplace.
