The Rising Stars program is back and — like everything else at the Las Vegas Business Press — it’ll be bigger and better in 2015.
In the past we’ve honored a small number of Rising Stars. Last year, the number was 10.
In 2015, the number will be 40.
We’re adding some structure to the process:
▶ Judging will be conducted by a team of past winners and others with an eye for spotting talent.
▶ Nominees need to be under 40 at the time of the Rising Star award edition March 16.
▶ Geography matters. Although the program is open to anyone who works in Clark County, preference will be given to those who work in the Las Vegas metro market, which includes North Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City.
▶ The judging criteria will include being a rising star in your company, your industry and your community. The self-employed are welcome. Entrepreneurship and innovation are valued. And so is community service. Tell us about your extra-curricular activities as well as your accomplishments at work.
The window is open for nominations via email to nominations@BusinessPress.Vegas. Nominate yourself; nominate a co-worker; nominate a client. It takes a village to identify the best and brightest.
Think of submitting a nomination as a bit like applying for a job. Write a note telling the judges why you think this person is a Rising Star. Feel free to include a resume but please don’t send just the resume. What’s in the file on closing day — Friday, Jan. 30 — is what the judges will use in selecting the next 40 Rising Stars.
Look for announcements in the coming weeks on judges and the location of the awards celebration. Each winner will receive two free tickets. There is a charge for additional tickets.
