C-SUITE: Meet Tom Cardin of Southwest Gas

Tom Cardin is vice president of gas operations for Southern Nevada, Southwest Gas Corp.

Q: What are you reading?

A: “The Demon of Unrest” by Erik Larson. He is my favorite author and I enjoy his historical narrative nonfiction storytelling.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant or place to take clients?

A: My favorite restaurant in Las Vegas is an Italian restaurant called Casa Di Amore. The food and service are excellent, and the restaurant has a 1970s old Las Vegas feel.

Q: How do you decompress after a long week?

A: Every Friday night, I join my mother for a home-cooked meal. On the weekends, my wife and I take long walks with our two dogs.

Q: What do you do to work out?

A: I exercise four days a week using both free weights and cardio.

Q: What is the biggest challenge facing Southern Nevada?

A: As a 35-year resident of Southern Nevada, I would say the Colorado River drought and the existing and future water supply needs are some of the challenges I see facing Southern Nevada. Having access to water is vital for our communities to thrive and for the continued economic development and growth of the region. Collectively, we have to work together at all levels to create long-term solutions to address our water supply and future energy needs.
