C-SUITE: Meet Dana Manacher, Shrtlst CEO

Dana Manacher is the CEO of Shrtlst

Q: What are you reading?

A: I spend most of my time reading business journals and news articles to stay up with industry trends, so my real guilty pleasure is fiction. Anything mystery or thriller with lots of twists and turns to keep me guessing what will happen next. It engages a completely separate part of my brain that is usually focused on growth and strategy, so I find that I become more creative because of it.

Q: Favorite restaurant?

A: Carbone. It’s super chic, fun and an authentic experience. The food is amazing, the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka and Cesar alla ZZ are my personal favorites. They have fun cocktails and the dessert is out of this world. I also love SW Steakhouse. It’s a Las Vegas staple that is always consistent. The food is good, there’s a really great vibe, and it’s great place to take clients.

Q: How do you decompress?

A: I am big on staying fit. I go to the gym and work out five days a week with a trainer to keep my mind clear and my body strong. It’s how I stay sharp and ready to keep up in a fast-paced working environment. I also spend lots of time outside. Both of my kids are athletes so I’m always cheering them on at a soccer game, tennis or volleyball match. Being outside and in the sunshine always helps me keep challenges in perspective. Sports is not unlike business, you condition and train, look for angles and opportunities, take your shot, and if you miss, you re-evaluate and keep going.

Q: Biggest challenge facing Las Vegas in the next five years?

A: There is a lot of inventory and competition in this market, so it’s really important to differentiate yourself. The travel industry is strong, but post COVID, we are seeing super-inflated rates all over the world. Las Vegas is going to have to offer a lot of things to compete and stay relevant.

Q: What do you like about Vegas?

A: Las Vegas is a big town with a small town feel. I’m always amazed that you can have both the calm, suburban lifestyle with world-class dining and entertainment right at your fingertips. It’s the best of both worlds and why I love it here.
