Women’s financial summit to be held May 3

Tickets are on sale now for the 2024 Women + Money Financial Empowerment Summit hosted by the Nevada Treasury, and will be held May 3 at The M Resort. This one-day event will provide several dynamic sessions on leadership, career development, entrepreneurship, saving for college and investing.

“Our team is excited to host this year’s woman-focused conference once again. Our goal is to empower women in Nevada as they navigate the complexities of financial security. We are thrilled to bring together dynamic panelists for a day of important conversations,” said Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine.

The Women + Money Summit will feature speakers from all backgrounds to address fundamental financial topics. Jan Jones Blackhurst, former mayor of Las Vegas and current member of the Caesars Entertainment board of directors, will serve as this year’s keynote speaker. Jones Blackhurst is a long-time political and business leader who has left an indelible imprint on the lives of millions of people. In 1991, Jan broke the glass ceiling as Las Vegas’ first female mayor. Under her leadership tourism grew from 15 million to 35 million and downtown Las Vegas was revitalized with the building of the Fremont Street Experience, the federal and county courthouses and the Clark County Government Headquarters. She then joined Caesars Entertainment, where she grew the industry’s first Responsible Gaming practices to include an ambassador model for the gaming industry and the first industry code of commitment. Jones Blackhurst is also known and respected for her efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workplace, advancing environmental stewardship, advocating for important social issues and giving millions of dollars to individuals, families and communities in need. She speaks extensively at universities nationwide and helped establish the International Gaming Institution Center of Excellence at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
