Annual event recognizes those who encourage commuting

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada’s Club Ride Commuter Services recognized local businesses that help promote the program’s mission to improve air quality.

Club Ride hosted its annual networking event and Star Awards for transportation coordinators — who work for public and private company partners in Clark County to register members for the Club Ride program and educate employees about commuting options — on Nov. 5.

The Rookie of the Year Award, which recognizes an employee partner that joined during the past year and showed exceptional growth with a high participation rate from employees, was shared by Expert Global Solutions and C3/CustomerContactChannels.

The Star Transportation Coordinator Award, which was presented to Tena Lester of Tropicana Las Vegas, honors an individual transportation coordinator for their ability to proactively plan commuter events, create marketing initiatives, celebrate winners and promote Club Ride consistently at their work site.

The Star Employer Partners Award was given to The Venetian and Palazzo and SolarCity as they exhibited substantial growth in registrations, reporting and overall participation.

Excalibur received the Marketing Innovation Award, which recognizes an employer partner with the most creative and effective internal marketing campaign.

Honorable mentions included Cancun Resort, Hard Rock Hotel, Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, ITT Tech — Henderson, Zappos, Diamond Resorts International, REI and Henderson.

The awards ceremony honored the efforts being made by local businesses to ensure their employees are traveling to work using a green a commute.

The RTC’s Club Ride is a free program, designed to improve air quality through carpooling, van pooling, riding transit, walking, bicycling, motorcycling, telecommuting, and compressed work weeks, such as working four 10-hour shifts. More than 300 employers in the Las Vegas Valley have established custom commute programs and offer incentives to encourage their employees to try new modes for getting to work.
