Lionel, Molasky receive justice awards

National Judicial College hosted a reception at Spago in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace on June 16 to present the Advancement of Justice award to attorney Sam Lionel and builder/designer Irwin Molasky.

The award is presented to those who have demonstrated dedication to improving justice in the judiciary. Both Lionel and Molasky have been generous donors to the judicial college for many years.

Lionel has been instrumental in the evolution of the legal profession in Nevada and recently funded the intellectual property law program at William S. Boys School of Law. Among Molasky’s philanthropic efforts have been significant support for the Grant Sawyer Center for Justice Studies at the University of Nevada.

Lionel and Molasky also created Project REAL 10 years ago, which prepares children to become involved, participating citizens who understand their legal and social responsibilities and rights.

LVGEA adds to board of directors

Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance has named four new members to its board of directors, bringing the total number of members to 43. The newest additions are: Michael Brown, president of Barrick Gold, USA: Ben Kieckhefer, director of client relations at McDonald Carano Wilson LLP and a state senator; Mary Simmons, vice president of business development and community strategy for NV Energy; and Bill Noonan, senior vice president of industry and government affairs for Boyd Gaming.

RTC recognized as bicycle-friendly

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada was recognized by the League of American Bicyclists with a gold-level Bicycle Friendly Business award, the only gold recognition to any organization in Nevada.

The promotion and development of bicycle-friendly communities supports the RTC’s initiative to create roadways designed to include room for all commuters, including cyclists. The RTC, along with Southern Nevada Strong, encourages bicycling as a viable option for transportation.
