Since 2004, Zerorez has been one of Southern Nevada’s top surface cleaners for carpeting, rugs, upholstery, tile, grout and air ducts. Zerorez uses innovative science and technology for revolutionary, state-of-the-art cleaning. The family-owned business is established as the industry leader, delivering Zerorez as “The Right Way to Clean® in every instance, during every visit.” Its process includes three proprietary components: the Zr™ Lifter, the Zr™ Water, and the proprietary Zr™ Wand. No harsh detergents or toxic chemicals are used, and its No Residue®-laden carpets eliminate pet odors or remaining dirt or residue for faster dry times and safer living spaces.
Administrative Manager Kevin McKee, one of three brothers, has been with the company since 2004 and has been a member of the Las Vegas team since 2016. and understands the challenges of taking care of flooring in the desert.
“It’s dry, and the asphalt comes in on the carpets. That’s always a problem along with just any type of soil or dirt. The carpet acts like an air filter, and anything in the air gets stuck in the carpet. The carpet is the biggest air filter in our houses and buildings. The HVAC filter catches some things, but the carpet is actually getting most of it out of the air and needs to be cleaned,” explained Kevin McKee.
Co-owner Doug McKee is also the Production Manager and Fun Captain since the corporate climate is a family environment that values customer service, team building and pride in a job well done. He has been a part of the company and the community of Southern Nevada for over 20 years.
“I got into the industry when I cleaned carpets and flooring while attending college. I knew it was a good industry, and there would be lots of opportunity for growth and success,” said Doug McKee. “I talked with my dad and became a franchise owner in Las Vegas with him.”
Their focus has always been on customer service, understanding that customers have expectations and want to do their best to meet them. “Communication is a huge part of what we bring. It’s not just carpet cleaning. We’re going to come in there and figure out the customer’s needs and what’s going on so we can best figure out how we solve these problems and how we solve these issues,” stated Doug McKee.
Other concerns are pets and flooring, especially carpeting, along with the sandy environment.
“People love their fur babies, and pets have accidents, and it’s hard on carpet. Depending on the level of contamination and the level of the problem, we have different ways to work on those pet issues and make them much cleaner and healthier for the house. We work on the staining and odors, if there are any since it is an important part of, it’s important to get those cleaned up. We don’t apply odor masks, so your house smells like fresh air,” explained Doug McKee.
Zerorez also cleans air ducts since much of the soil comes right out of an air duct and into the carpets and flooring. “Indoor air quality is huge, and quite frankly, everyone’s indoor air quality is a lot worse than the outside air,” added Doug McKee.
“Cleaning air ducts is an essential part of maintaining your house, too, so we have vent cleaning services. We have a very specialized truck that is just a huge vacuum to go and pull all that dirt out of your vents outside of your house into our truck, and it just does such an amazing job of getting the dirt out of your vents. It just really makes your home atmosphere so much better.”
The company has been in business for 20 years, but only Zerorez offers technology, ZR water acts like a soap or detergent, without all the drawbacks. It doesn’t leave the residue behind, meaning no dirt magnets are on the carpet. Any residue left will attract dirt, so it needs to be neutralized, and its trademarked water doesn’t leave that residue. If a form of soap, after the carpet dries, it will be crunchy. With Zerorez procedure, carpeting is soft and smooth.
Commercial General Manager Benjamin McKee manages the commercial side of the business, with teams on call and working 24/7. “We hold our team accountable and remain accountable. We manage the team instead of the property having to maintain and manage our team,” said Benjamin McKee.
As for giving back to the community, Zerorez sends their team about once a month to make some charitable donations, usually with carpet cleaning-related services. Zerorez gives veteran and senior discounts and have donated services to Help of Southern Nevada.
The backstory is one of two men who started Zerorez, who once worked for Robert McKee (father), who decided to become a franchise owner and his three sons own and operate the Las Vegas franchise. At age 78, he still keeps the books and counsels them on the business. There were eight children in the family, and four of the sons worked for the franchise while attending college during the summer months before making it their career.
FUN FACT: Zerorez is a palindrome, so it’s spelled the same way, forwards or backward.
