FirstMed Health and Wellness, a leading Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Southern Nevada, has achieved the prestigious gold level designation from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This recognition places FirstMed Health and Wellness as one of the top HRSA-supported FQHCs in the country, acknowledging its commitment to providing high-quality, accessible health care to underserved communities.
FirstMed’s achievement as a Gold Level FQHC, ranks it among the top 5 percent of FQHCs in the U.S. It achieved this distinction based on FirstMed’s greater patient outcomes at lower costs in 2023, despite treating more sick and economically disadvantaged patients than the average health care clinic.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this gold-level designation. This recognition is a result of the dedication and hard work of our entire team,” said Angela Quinn, CEO at FirstMed Health and Wellness. “We are committed to providing the best possible care to our patients and are honored to be counted among the top FQHCs in the nation.”
To achieve gold status, FQHCs must meet stringent criteria and score highly in 11 core areas. FirstMed attained an aggregate score of 96.4 out of a possible 100, moving up from the silver rating they achieved last year. This rating recognizes the organization as one of the top FQHCs in the country out of 1403 FQHCs with a total of 17,900 clinics combined.
“Our commitment to care goes beyond our clinical services,” Quinn said. “We offer a wide range of community health programs, including health education, social services and behavioral health care. These programs are in place to promote overall well-being in the communities we serve.”
With this designation, FirstMed will serve as a model for other Federally Qualified Health Centers nationwide. This achievement will help the clinic to advance research and development, increase collaborations, and positively impact both patient care and community health, further solidifying its role as a beacon of excellence in the health care industry.
