Senior Law Program provides free legal aid to seniors

The Southern Nevada Senior Law Program has launched its new Ask-A-Lawyer pilot program, offering free legal services to seniors 60 and older at local community centers across Southern Nevada. Running from April through September 2025, this initiative aims to increase awareness of SLP’s free legal resources and provide seniors with direct access to critical legal guidance.

The Ask-A-Lawyer program will bring SLP attorneys to select senior centers one day each month for four-hour sessions. This is made possible by our robust pro bono network, whose volunteer work on our other programs allows SLP staff lawyers to provide direct, community-based services where seniors need them most.

Seniors can schedule free 30-minute consultations to discuss issues such as estate planning, housing disputes, scams, public benefits and more. If additional legal assistance is needed, the attorney can help schedule a follow-up appointment at SLP’s office.

“By bringing our services directly to senior centers, we’re breaking down barriers to access and ensuring that legal help is within reach for those who need it most,” said Diane Fearon, executive director of Senior Law Program. “This program reflects our commitment to meeting the community where they are and empowering seniors to protect their rights and independence.”

SLP is partnering with the following senior centers to host the Ask-A-Lawyer events:

• Cora Coleman Senior Center (Clark County Parks & Recreation)

• Doolittle Community Center (city of Las Vegas)

• Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Center (city of North Las Vegas)

• West Flamingo Senior Center (Clark County Parks and Recreation)

• Downtown Senior Center (city of Henderson)

Appointments are required and seniors are encouraged to contact their local center’s program coordinator to schedule a consultation.

Community members are invited to spread the word about this valuable resource. If you know a senior who is located near any of the five participating senior centers encourage them to contact a participating senior center or call Senior Law Program at 702-229-6596 for more information.

For more than 45 years, the Southern Nevada Senior Law Program has provided free legal services to seniors 60 and older in our community. Our mission is to protect the rights, dignity and independence of seniors through advocacy, education and legal support. From estate planning and housing issues to fraud prevention and public benefits, SLP is here to ensure that Southern Nevada seniors have access to the justice they deserve.
