DEAL WATCH: Mountains Edge Hospital expands

NIGRO CONSTRUCTION COMPLETES $7M EXPANSION FOR MOUNTAIN’S EDGE HOSPITAL

Mountains Edge Hospital has grown by 19,135 square feet, thanks to the addition of the Mountains Edge Hospital Orthopedic Surgery Center, a $7-million expansion project constructed and completed by Nigro Construction. The 130-bed acute care hospital is at 8656 W. Patrick Lane.

The addition, which began almost exactly one year ago, includes a surgical suite, five operating rooms, preoperative and recovery suites and material management. New medical equipment for the center totals $4 million, bringing the overall value of the project to $11 million.

“The addition of Mountains Edge Hospital Orthopedic Surgery Center is yet another indication of a growing trend we’re seeing in the health care industry,” said Nigro Construction President, Michael Nigro. “In just the last year alone, we’ve seen a nearly 40 percent increase in our medical business, as there continues to be more interest in the expansion of existing health care facilities. Medical design and construction planning is evolving, since new technology eliminates the need for physical file rooms, allowing more real estate for actual medical practice and equipment, enhanced patient flow and opportunity to add more personnel and expand capacity.”

The project also includes the installation of an energy-efficient boiler and decontamination, sterilization, medical gas and water treatment services within the new surgical department.

Nigro Construction Inc. is wholly owned by the Nigro family, who have been doing business in Las Vegas in both the development and construction industries for more than 40 years. Established by Edward M. Nigro in 1979, the firm is a second-generation company. Having grown up in the building industry, learning the business hands-on from their father, Todd and Michael Nigro, together with Charles Hansen, bring their expertise to the forefront as principals of the firm.
