The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada is hosting its 12th annual Athena Awards on Dec. 4.
Anita Laruy, director of government affairs, said the event honors outstanding women in the community as well as serving as the organization’s biggest fundraising opportunity for its Legacy Foundation. Its goal is to provide scholarships for underprivileged high school students and post-secondary education grants.
Leadership finalists are Debbie Ann Banko of Link Technologies, Jacqueline Beato and Eileen Moore of Caesars Entertainment Corp., Shannon Petersen of Nevada State Bank and Inez Staten of Problem Gambling Center.
Young Leadership finalists are Jennifer Barrier of Policy Communications, Adrina Ramos-King of city of Las Vegas, Alexis Michaud of Michaud Law Offices, Candace Perkins of MGM Resorts International and Danette Tull of Nevada Film Office.
“These women have not only excelled in their professions, but have also mentored and helped women through their community involvement,” she said. “We look forward to honoring these wonderful women and having a very successful affair that will allow us to award many scholarships and grants.”
Eloiza Martinez will receive the Minority Lifetime Achievement Award, Dress for Success Southern Nevada will be given the Athena Organizational Leadership Award, Kelly Clinton-Holmes will be deemed the Entertainer of the Year, Tricia Kean of KTNV Channel 13 Action News will be the News Anchor of the Year and Karen McKenney of the Rainbow Company Youth Theatre will receive the Theatre Director Award. Tammy Grabel of Las Vegas Woman Magazine will receive the Print Media Award and Jan Craddock of Blvd Magazine will receive the Digital Media Award.
The event will begin with a VIP reception on Dec. 4 at 11:15 a.m. at Club Madrid at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Rd. in Henderson. Professional business attire is requested.
