Nevada is currently enjoying a growing economy that is subsided by tax abatements of tax payer dollars. We need to diversify and attract businesses who see the value of doing business in Nevada, without being subsidied.
Our city was never designed as a dense, urban center. It was rural ranch land into which a transient industry (gaming/hospitality) was dropped. As we grow and evolve into a true metropolitan area with all the facets of a “real” city, educating people on the use of publicly programmed space and ensuring a more smooth transition as we go from horizontal living to a more vertical/dense experience will be crucial.
We need to work collectively, as a city, to improve education. They are our future yet we are ranked 49th in the nation.
I grew up here and there is so much more opportunity than meets the eye. Its reputation has gotten better in the past years but still has a ways to go. I think that Las Vegas will drastically change in the coming years due to the rapid growth in sports, new businesses and cannabis.

Tourism will decrease if a slowdown in the general economy moves forward over the next five years. This will affect expansion projects, new home construction and casino revenue — all of which have negative impacts on the economy of Las Vegas.
