Nevada Medicine in 2017

As we all know in Nevada, our Legislature meets for 120 days every other year. The 2017 Legislative session will see the Democratic party in control of the Senate and the Assembly. Gov. Brian Sandoval, a Republican, is the head of the executive branch, which means that bills that are passed that do not have bipartisan support may very well face a veto challenge by the governor. Georgia-based Cortland Partners purchases three senior communities

Atlanta-based Cortland Partners is the new management company for three senior living communities previously owned and managed by Destinations Living. The ownership of Destinations Living — a collection of eight gated-communities throughout the Las Vegas valley — sold seven of its properties in late October, according to the Clark County Recorder’s office. AG Mortgage Investment Trust, Inc. is associated with all seven Limited-Liability Companies listed as the property sellers.

Health care jobs among region’s most lucrative

The 19th-century American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson famously observed that “the first wealth is health,” but the business of health is proving an effective path to wealth-building of a more material sort. Health care careers are among the most lucrative in Clark County, accounting for six of the top 10 spots in a new list released by the jobs website zippia.com.
